Auditions #1 for Heartbeat of the Holidays: Exploring Holiday Heritage Around the World
A Virtual Production, Written and Directed by Jami Steele Sprankle
Travel with us on a multicultural holiday adventure. Get set to travel through time and around the world as we explore Holiday traditions, both familiar and new to you!
Heartbeat of the Holidays is made up of several vignettes, giving actors the chance to play multiple roles and singers to sing in a variety of scenes. The parts listed below do not include all of the named speaking roles. The music ranges from traditional, to classical, to modern. You will recognize many of the holiday songs, while some may become new favorites!
Singers: Prepare 16 bars of a song that you are familiar with in the style with which you are comfortable. Use backing tracks if possible, but no tracks with vocals on them.
Speaking roles: Prepare a one minute monologue from a story. You will be allowed to read it, but take some time to practice it.
Accents: If you can do accents, plan to show them off. Below is a partial list of available roles. Some roles will be open to all ages and some are age specific. Some of these generic groups have named characters with lines, like the shepherds and the angels. There are ensemble roles for all kinds of fun things if you do not want a main role!
Heartbeat of the Holidays: Exploring Holiday Heritage Around the World will follow our established Covid19 Protocols for safe social distancing, masks will be required and all other precautions will be strictly observed. Rehearsals will primarily be held online (Zoom required), but as we get closer to the release date, will include on-campus "film" days (also following Covid19 Protocols). Cast will NOT be performing for a live audience, this production will be an online pre-recorded event.
